Teenage Republicans partner to prepare food for fellow students in need

In January, Shelby High School guidance counselor Tammy Hollifield put out a plea for help.

The backpack program, which provided food on the weekends for a handful of students in need, had grown to include about 20 students. Each week, she and Career Development Coordinator Ronda Branch filled two grocery carts with food and packed bags for homeless and hungry students.

The program started last year with the help of the school’s social worker. But Shelby High School lost a social worker position because of funding. Without the social worker and her connections, Hollifield and Branch were struggling.  COMPLETE ARTICLE HERE
